Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
This policy explains what HomeClip collects, what we do with it, and what we never do with it. Questions or requests go to [email protected].
What we collect
- From homeowners: When you submit a quote request, your name, phone, email, ZIP, and project description. We share those details only with the pros we send your request to, and we never sell them.
- From traders: When you claim a listing, your email and optionally phone (for SMS lead alerts on Pro).
- From everyone: Standard server logs (IP, user agent, referrer) retained for 30 days for security and error monitoring.
What we do with it
- Quote requests: Forwarded only to the business you selected. We don't sell or share with third parties.
- Trader claims: Used to verify ownership and send lead alerts. Not shared with other businesses or homeowners.
- Public sentiment data: We aggregate publicly-posted reviews from Google and Reddit. The aggregation is public; we don't add personal information beyond what was already public.
Cookies and measurement
A session cookie keeps you signed in. Beyond that we use three kinds of measurement, and we would rather describe them plainly than claim we use none:
- Advertising: Meta and Google set cookies so we can tell which advert led to a quote request. We send those platforms the fact that a request happened, never your project description.
- Analytics: PostHog and Vercel Analytics record which pages people use and where they give up. PostHog also records anonymised session replays, with form fields and personal details masked before they leave your browser.
- What we do not do: we do not sell your personal information, and we do not buy data about you from anyone else.
Blocking any of this in your browser, or with an ad blocker, costs you nothing on this site. Every page and the quote form work the same way without it.
Text messages (SMS)
We only send text messages to contractors who have claimed their profile and given us a mobile number for that purpose, by ticking the SMS consent box on the claim form. The box is never ticked for you, and it is not a condition of claiming your profile or of using HomeClip. Leave it unticked and we send your leads by email instead. We never text homeowners.
Mobile information and messaging consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. We do not share, sell, or rent mobile numbers.
The only party that ever receives your mobile number is the messaging provider that delivers the message on our behalf (Twilio), and only so it can deliver it. When a homeowner asks you for a quote, we pass you their contact details so you can reply. We do not pass your mobile number to them.
Message frequency varies. Texts are sent only when something happens on your account: a homeowner sends you a quote or SOS request, or your licence or insurance certificate is close to expiring. There is no fixed schedule. Some weeks you may receive none; a busy day may bring several.
Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect your listing, your Trust Score, or your leads, which continue by email. You can also withdraw consent by emailing [email protected].
Your rights
You can request your data, correct it, or have it deleted by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
